Open Organisation Foundations
The following characteristics are the foundation of most open organizations.
Each Open Organization usually incorporates these characteristics differently. Some organizations that don’t consciously embed and embrace these principles, might nevertheless embrace some of them.
Consciously Open Organizations embody all of them. They connect them into the core fabric of the culture in powerful and productive ways.
Openness is becoming a fundamental approach for how high Performance teams are working together to achieve shared and meaningful goals.
Most forward-thinking organizations, are embracing openness as a necessary approach toward ensuring high performance results.
Openness can lead to:
- Greater AGILITY, as members are more capable of working toward goals in unison and with shared vision;
- Faster INNOVATION, as ideas from both inside and outside the organization receive more equitable consideration and rapid experimentation, and;
- Increased ENGAGEMENT, as members clearly see connections between their particular activities and an organization’s overarching values, mission, and spirit.
Openness is fluid and agile. Openness is multifaceted.
