Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the Musical Team Building / LipSync Experience?

Our Musical Team Building events are fun, high‑energy LipSingK and AI‑assisted music experiences where teams work together to plan, rehearse and perform a song.

They use “air guitars”, “air drums”, props, movement and performance energy to turn a simple karaoke idea into a fully‑fledged team performance – while we build trust, psychological safety, creativity and collaboration.

2. How is this different from normal karaoke or a typical “fun day”?

Most karaoke or “fun days” are entertainment with no real impact.
Our process is:

Expertly facilitated, not just hosted
Linked to real business outcomes (trust, connection, psychological safety, communication, engagement)
Designed with structured reflection and debriefs, so lessons are applied back at work
Infused with the same High‑Performance (HPO) and REVOLUTIONARY WORKPLACE® principles used in our core programs

It’s productive fun – not just “fluffy games”.

3. What are the main objectives of the Musical Team Building?

Typical outcomes include:

Stronger connection, cohesion and team spirit
Increased psychological safety and trust
Improved collaboration, communication and decision‑making
Unlocking creativity and innovation in a low‑risk, fun environment
Boosting energy, morale and engagement
Helping people step out of comfort zones in a safe, supported way

4. How does AI get used in the session?

AI is used to support the creative process, for example:

Brainstorming song themes or alternative lyrics
Helping teams re‑write words to align with company values, mission, or current strategic themes
Assisting with structure, rhymes or wording if teams get stuck

The AI supports the team’s creativity – it doesn’t replace human interaction and collaboration.

5. What does a typical Musical Team Building session include?

A typical session can include:

High‑energy welcome, context setting and psychological safety ground rules
Team formation and role allocation (lyric writers, choreographers, performers, “branding”/props, etc.)
Song selection and AI‑assisted lyric re‑write
Practice / rehearsal time with facilitator coaching
Performances (LipSync / team singing) with full group support
Feedback, celebration and awards (e.g. best collaboration, best creativity, best values alignment)
Facilitated debrief linking insights to real workplace behaviours and performance

6. How long is a Musical Team Building event?

We can tailor the duration to your schedule and objectives:

Short sessions: 1,5-2 (conference energiser / breakaway)
Half‑day (most popular)
Full‑day, combined with additional High performance team building or leadership content

7. For what group sizes does this work best?

Small teams: ±8–15 people
Medium groups: 20–60 people
Large groups: 60–200+ people (we divide into multiple “bands” / groups)

Very large groups can be accommodated with additional facilitators and careful design.

8. What kind of organisations is this suitable for?

Musical Team Building works well for:

Corporate teams (executive, management, operational, sales, support)
Government departments and public sector teams
Project teams and cross‑functional groups
Mixed leadership / staff groups at conferences and offsites
It’s especially powerful when you want to break silos, reduce formality and get people to connect as humans, not just job titles.

9. Do participants need to be able to sing or perform?

Not at all.

No musical skill is required
Team members can choose visible or behind‑the‑scenes roles
We create a psychologically safe environment so even “non‑performers” feel supported
The focus is on teamwork, courage, creativity and fun – not vocal perfection
Many introverts and “non‑singers” report this as one of their favourite team experiences because they’re never forced or humiliated.

10. Is this suitable for year‑end functions and celebrations?

Yes. Musical Team Building is ideal for:

  • Year‑end parties and celebrations
  • Kick‑off meetings and strategy launches
  • Conference energisers
  • Staff appreciation days

For year‑ends we typically increase the fun factor while still embedding meaningful reflection and connection.

11. Can the activity be linked to our values, mission or strategy?

Absolutely. We can:

Build your values, mission, strategy or current priorities into the lyric‑writing brief
Ask each team to incorporate specific behaviours (e.g. collaboration, accountability, innovation) into their performance
Use the final debrief to connect what happened in the room to how you want people to behave at work
This makes the event directly relevant to your culture and strategic goals.

12. Where do you run Musical Team Building events?

We’re based in Fourways, Sandton, Johannesburg, and regularly run events in:

Johannesburg, Sandton, Pretoria, Centurion and wider Gauteng
Other regions in South Africa by arrangement
Conference venues, hotels, lodges, or your own office / boardroom
We can also blend in online / hybrid components on request.

13. Do you only work in Gauteng?

Gauteng is our primary base, but we do travel:

Across South Africa (Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein, etc.)
To other African countries and international destinations for larger projects
Travel and logistics are quoted based on location, group size and program length.

14. Can this be done indoors?

Yes. Musical Team Building is 100% indoor‑friendly:

Works in boardrooms, training rooms, hotel conference rooms, or large offices
No need for outdoor spaces, physical exertion or “getting dirty”
Suitable for teams who prefer comfortable, professional environments rather than adventure activities

15. What equipment or venue requirements are there?

We’ll discuss specifics with you, but typically:

A room large enough for group movement and small‑group breakouts
Standard AV (projector/screen, speakers, microphones) or we can bring in sound support by arrangement
Tables/chairs that can be moved for performance space
Access to power points and Wi‑Fi (helpful, especially when using AI tools)
If you don’t have a venue, we can recommend suitable venues in Johannesburg and Gauteng.

16. Is the session physically demanding?

No. The activity is:

Low physical impact – suitable for most fitness levels
Flexible (participants can sit, stand, or move based on comfort)
Adaptable for participants with mobility or other health considerations
We focus on mental, emotional and social engagement rather than physical endurance..

17. How does this build psychological safety and trust?

We deliberately design the experience to:

Set clear ground rules for respect, support and non‑judgement
Encourage vulnerability in a playful, low‑risk way (e.g. being silly together)
Normalise mistakes and experimentation
Give everyone a voice and a role in the process
When people feel safe enough to sing, dance or act playfully in front of colleagues, they usually feel more comfortable speaking up at work too.

18. How do you link the fun back to real work?

This is where expert facilitation matters. After the performances we:

Reflect on how teams planned, decided, communicated and handled conflict under time pressure
Surface parallels with daily work: leadership, listening, inclusion, problem‑solving, resilience
Translate insights into clear behavioural commitments for back at work
You don’t just leave with great memories – you leave with agreed ways of working better together.

19. Can we combine Musical Team Building with other HPO activities?

es. Popular combinations include:

Morning: HPO / REVOLUTIONARY WORKPLACE® content, diagnostics and team alignment
Afternoon: Musical Team Building to anchor and embody the learning
Multi‑day: Musical Team Building as one of several experiential modules (e.g. Bridge Builders, Formula WON, Happiness@Work, tower challenges, etc.)
We’ll design the program to match your objectives, budget and time.

20. Who facilitates the session?

Your event is facilitated by Life Masters’ expert high‑performance team facilitators, led by or designed with:

Tony Dovale – founder of Life Masters, high‑performance teams expert and developer of the #AdaptAgility and REVOLUTIONARY WORKPLACE® frameworks
Senior associates with decades of real‑world leadership, coaching and facilitation experience
We don’t send junior “entertainers” – we use experienced professionals.

21. What kinds of teams get the most value from this?

Musical Team Building is especially impactful for:

Newly formed or restructured teams that need faster bonding
Teams with low morale, fatigue or “Zoom exhaustion”
Teams battling with silos, poor communication or low trust
Leadership or Exco teams that need to reconnect as humans, not just roles
It also works well as a “reset” for teams after restructures, crises or heavy pressure periods.

22. How many people are in each team or group?

We usually design groups of:

±6–10 people per team (“band”), depending on total group size
Each team gets enough people to cover different roles (lyrics, choreography, props, performance, etc.)
We can adjust group sizes to fit your context.

23. Is this appropriate for conservative or very formal cultures?

Yes... We:

Design the level of energy and “wildness” to match your culture
Ensure inclusion and psychological safety for more reserved participants
Keep the focus on respect, professionalism and learning – with lots of fun, but never humiliation or disrespect
We’ll discuss your culture and risk appetite with you before final design.

24. What outcomes can we realistically expect from one Musical Team Building event?

You can expect:

Noticeably higher connection, laughter and positive energy
Stronger sense of “us”, rather than “me vs them”
Greater openness and willingness to interact across levels or departments
A shared, positive memory that improves relationships long after the event
Clear insights and language around collaboration, communication and trust that you can reference back in meetings
For deeper, structural change in culture and performance, we recommend integrating Musical Team Building into a broader HPO / REVOLUTIONARY WORKPLACE® journey.

25. How do we brief you and get a tailored proposal?

You can:

Use the Get‑a‑Quote / Get a Fun Team Building Proposal options on the site
Or call 083‑447‑6300 to speak directly with Tony
Share:
Team size & profile
Desired date, time and venue (or region)
Your current challenges (e.g. low trust, new team, conflict, silos, change fatigue)
Your desired outcomes (e.g. connection, celebration, culture shift, psychological safety)
We’ll then design a customised Musical Team Building proposal with options to match your budget and timing.
