I can
already hear your comments.
Yea right, come an try my life on for size, then we'll see if there's
no stress in the world or not.
Please will
someone bring me a bucket of stress,
in fact if you can, bring two.
Ok smarty
pants... I hear you say. It's true I can't bring you a bucket of
stress. But I'm feeling very stressed so it must exist somewhere.
It is
estimated that two-thirds of all the illnesses seen by General
Practitioners are stress related and that 25% of the US work force miss
16 days per year due to stress and 55% or more are stressed or very
stressed work. In south Africa, I'm sure these figures are much higher.
All you've got to look at the suicide statistics to see.
Well it
seems it does exist. It exists first in your head, then in your
bodymind, then it manifests in your body, and then begins to expand
outwards to manifest and contaminate in your environment- home,
work, family and future.
What we are
talking about here are the symptoms, not the cause. Whilst most people
treat the symptoms, smart people know better and do the work to treat
the primary cause. It's no to use a band-aid when you need a new
Stress
begins with your thoughts. It is not the events of your life that cause
stress, But the way you think about them. "Man (sic) is not disturbed
by things but by the views he takes of them." - (Epictetus, 120 AD).
The primary
cause of stress is due to low resilience mental programmes, thought
viruses, unreasonable beliefs, emo-energy leaks and low consciousness
levels. Negative thoughts produce negative emotions. For most
people stress is caused by the beliefs, perceptions of judgements
around the lack of control, which in turn creates fear.
Fear of not
having the resources. Fear of not succeeding. Fear of the worst
happening. Fear of not being good enough. Fear of rejection. Fear of
loss. Fear of failure or even fear of success.
We all know
too well the symptoms and effects of stress. How it causes emotions
that cause chemicals to be released in our bodies, that causes bodily
reactions. this process involves the sympathetic nervous system and the
endocrine or hormonal system.
Your
negative thought viruses sends impulses to the adrenal glands which
react and release different chemicals into your blood stream, which
then circulate throughout your body, affecting your pituitary gland,
causing it to release yet more "Stress" chemicals. These include
corticosteroids such as adrenaline, noradrenaline and other hormones
and neurotransmitters.
These
stress chemicals activate every organ in your body. The physical
effects are most noticeable when the emotion is intense. It affects
your heart, Stomach, Gut, Muscles, Lungs, Tear glands, sweat glands,
Salivary glands, skin, then moves back to affecting your brain.
In your
brain stress causes dilation of cranial arteries resulting in
migraines, headaches, sleep problems and interference with the brain's
neurotransmitters which results in "stage fright", memory and
concentration problems, trouble making decisions, dizziness and panic.
It then
begins to impact your immune system. Based upon the studies of Psycho
Neuro immunology (PNI) we know it starts the destruction of leukocytes
or white blood cells, increasing vulnerability to dis-ease. As an added
bonus chemicals that the body releases to reverse some of these
negative effects pass through your brain and set off further negative
thoughts and so perpetuate the cycle.
Non-physical ailments due to stress include personality problems such
as increased pessimism, increased irritability/anger, loss of
confidence and low resiliency. Phobias, depression, burn-out, panic
attacks, schizophrenic and manic depressive episodes can also be
triggered by this stress process
Once you
start to become stressed you are likely to continue to be so, unless
you make the decision to take back your awareness, consciousness and
your life power and reprogramme your mind.
The most
powerful antidote to stress it to catch the cause - the thoughts. Start
by take responsibility for planning a way to clear the triggers of your
stress. These triggers may be based upon fears of the future, regrets
of the, losses, self doubt and deliberate unconscious decisions to
endure a stressful situations.
Maybe you
cant change your circumstances, but you can change your attitude and
your mental programmes using strategies like thought stopping,
reframing and emotionetics are very useful.
Also
consider doing some exercise. Aerobic activity is essential to managing
your stressful states. As exercise uses up in the muscle energy and the
stress chemicals released into your bloodstream. Your exercise process
also releases endorphins which will act as mood elevators and begin to
bring your moods and emotions back up the consciousness scale.
It's also
very important in this hurried life to have a good balance. Make sure
you have breaks, vacations, friends, and recreational stuff that fuels
your happiness, satisfaction and give you a sense of achievement and
self worth.
After
addressing your CORE energetic issues and AQ programmes that cause and
perpetuate your stress, you should consider developing your self in
areas like- time management, problem solving, assertiveness, decision
making, self-leadership, adversity intelligence (AQ), Emotional
intelligence and personal energy management.
If it's
your reactions to life that creates stress, then it's also your

stress. Reduce your static, grow your AQ and eradicate your
thought-viruses for a better quality of life in 60 seconds with
