Make good close relationship connections. Good relationships
with family members, friends and others are extremely
valuable. Accepting help and support from those who care
about you, will listen to you and offer support,
strengthens your resilience.
Many people discover that being
active in volunteer groups, faithbased organizations, or
other self development groups provides social support and
assists with reclaiming hope and building resilience.
Assisting others in their time of need also often also
benefit the person providing the support or assistance.
Change the way you look at challenges and problems. See them
as ALWAYS surmountable challenges. You can’t change the fact
that events happen. But you can always choose to shift
how you interpret and respond to events. Look beyond the
present to how your future circumstances may be enhanced by
this encounter.
Accept that change is a daily aspect of your life. Change
what you can. Accept what you cannot. By accepting
circumstances that cannot be changed assists you to focus on
circumstances that you can change.
Move regularly and incrementally towards your goals. Develop
SMART goals, and take some action regularly – even if
it seems like a small steps – that enables moving toward
your goals. Instead of focusing on tasks that seem
unachievable, ask yourself, “What ’s one thing I know I can
accomplish today that helps me move in the direction I want
to go?”
Make decisions and take decisive action. Act from a
perspective of powerful and in control in all
situations. Make decisions and act, rather than detaching
yourself from problems, challenges or stressors. Stop
Wishing and ACT.
Always look for opportunities for growth and selfdiscovery.
You can very often learn more about yourself, and could
discover that you've grown in many respects, as a result of
your challenges.
Numerous people who've experienced
challenges, tragedy, loss or life hardships have later
reported having stronger relationships, a greatly
enhanced sense of personal capacity and strength, an
increased sense of selfworth and, a greater awareness of
true spirituality. All this goes to enhance your
appreciation for life and what you already have.
Build and nurture a strong, capable, positive self Identity.
Develop confidence by increasingly solving
problems/challenges, and trusting your innate instincts to
assist with building resilience, capacity and strength.
Keep things in perspective. Step back from the challenge.
When being faced with challenging events, consider the
situation in a much broader context, keep a longterm
perspective. Avoid blowing the event out of proportion by
keeping control of your mental chatter - Keep it POSITIVE.
Stick with an optimistic and positive outlook. This will
enable you to visualise and expect good things to happen to
you. Visualize what you want, rather than focusing on what
you don't have or worrying about what you fear may happen.
Take good care of yourself. Be gentle with yourself in
times of stress. Get your needs fulfilled, and stay aware of
your feelings. Embrace RESPONSIBILITY for your results and
actions. Participate in activities that are fun, enjoyable
and that you find relaxing and engaging.
Get regular physical and mental Exercise. Take care of
yourself body, heart and mind. The more exercise you
have, the greater the capacity for your body to handle
stress and challenges. Keep your mind and body sharp
and ready to successfully deal with challenges - All of life
requires your resilience - Be prepared for challenges
anywhere, anytime.
Resilience is your secret ingredient of a
happy, health and enjoyable life. Resilience is the
foundation of your success.
